Noodle Tools is an "integrated academic research platform on the web, transforming the way that teachers provide differentiated instruction of literacy to students in upper elementary through university...Noodle Tools supports the research process with a platform of integrated tools for note-taking, outlining, citation, document archiving/annotation, and collaborative research and writing." (http://www.noodletools.com/about/index.php)
I have found Noodle Tools to be a valuable program for several reasons:
- It trains our students to be ethical and responsible researchers and writers - The note card and bibliography tools make correct source attribution and citation creation easier and more manageable.
- It helps students stay organized - Note cards can be arranged by main idea/themes, note cards can be sorted, stacked, and re-arranged on the virtual desktop. The note cards can be dragged and dropped into an outline format.
- It's cloud based - Students can access their Noodle Tools accounts from any computer, so no more lost hard copies or broken or misplaced flash drives. All their hard work is preserved online!
- It interfaces with Google Drive - Students can export citations directly into a Google Doc, and they can create a Google Doc in Noodle Tools to write their research paper.
