The Tewksbury
Township Schools Technology Department provides leadership,
support, and training to our educators who are improving student
achievement through the infusion of technology into the district's
standards-based curriculum. Our district's technology vision
is constantly growing with new hardware, software, and strategies
to improve our teacher’s ability to
use technology as an instructional tool in their daily lessons.
Our district software helps teachers use differentiated learning
techniques to ensure all of our students are constantly being
challenged in core subjects.
Thirty-four classrooms
and both media centers are equipped with a Smartboard™ and
projector for instruction. Part of an awarded inclusionary
grant,
the Smartboards offer an engaging learning environment to
students in any grade. We also have
digital microscopes, wireless laptops, digital
camera's,
HI-8 video
camcorders, videoflex's™ and portable DLP projectors
available to our staff and students.
Since 2004, we have subscribed
to a video streaming service that provides over 22,000 curriculum
mapped videos to our teachers for use in the classroom. As
of 7/27/2006 our teachers have streamed over 22.8 Gigabytes
of content!
Since September 2003, we have offered remote
access to both staff and students. Utilizing Citrix MetaframeXP
and Windows 2003 Terminal Services, we are able to provide
our staff and students with a consistent working experience
whether they are in the district or at home. This also allows
our district to extend it's computer hardware obselecence
plan by utilizing older pc's as "thin-clients" to maximize
usage of current equipment. |
