One of the strengths
of Tewksbury Elementary is the commitment by staff
and administration to constantly improve
the instructional program through
professional growth. This is
accomplished by activities which
regularly assess current practices,
investigates research, and the
development of new programs and
activities.
The staff also
pursues individual professional growth
activities, as seen by the fact that
over 90% of the staff have earned their
masters degree or credits beyond a
bachelor’s degree. As an outgrowth of
the emphasis on growth and staff
development the administration and staff
are afforded opportunities of leadership
to other districts.
Currently, positions
of leadership in the Tri-County Reading
Association and County Staff Development
Council include Sawmill staff. Staff
members have given presentations to
educators in other districts at the
following:
Tri-County
Reading Council Fall conference
California Kindergarten Conference
Young Author’s Ceremony, Rider
University
T.A.B.L.E. Conference.
Also, a number of
staff members have presented
workshops to other faculty through
our teacher-to-teacher after-school
staff development program.
