Pick Up Procedures

Grades K:

Parents wishing to pick up students after school are asked to send a note in the morning or, in the event of an emergency, call the school secretary by 1:00 PM (908-832-2594 x2002).  Please send a note for each day that your child’s routine deviates from the norm.  The preferred Pick Up Note format is available under Site Shortcuts or you can purchase a pink pad of notes from the PTA. If a person other than the parent/guardian is picking up the student, he/she must present identification. Students will not be released without written notification from the parent/guardian. The classroom teacher will escort each student to be picked up by the parent/guardian to the main office.

Parents/guardians are asked to receive their child in the main office and go to the office to sign out their child from the clipboard on the lower level of the reception counter.

Grades 1 through 4:

Parents wishing to pick up students after school are asked to send a note in the morning or, in the event of an emergency, call the school by 3:00 PM (908-832-2594 x2002). Please send a note for each day that your child’s routine deviates from the norm.  The preferred Pick Up Note format is available under Site Shortcuts or you can purchase a pink pad of notes from the PTA. The parent/guardian should speak to the school secretary. To assure safety for all students, students who are being picked up will be dismissed from the Cafetorium. PARENTS MUST ENTER THE SCHOOL AT THE WESTERN END NEAR THE LOADING DOCK. These doors will be open at 3:00 PM.  Parents will note that this area is blocked off by a gate so that no one can enter the main part of the school.  Parents will wait in the hallway near the cafeteria until the dismissal bell rings at 3:20 PM. Students will file to the Cafetorium where they will be checked in by staff members. When all specified students are present, parents will be invited into the Cafetorium to sign out their children. If a person other than the parent/guardian is picking up a student, he/she must present identification. Students will not be released without written notification from the parent/guardian. Parents/guardians must sign out their children on clipboards for each grade level.

If you are planning to take your child out for more than one day please submit a Pre-Planned Absence form.  These are available under site shortcuts.

Welcome to Tewksbury Elementary school.  During the 2011-2012 academic year, our school was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the United States Department of Education.  Approximately 1% of the schools in the nation received this prestigious award.  In addition only four schools in Hunterdon County were awarded this recognition since the Blue Ribbon Award Program began in 1982.  During the 2012-2013 school year, we will continue with our tradition of excellence!

As a Blue Ribbon School we are excited to provide our parents, students and community with a new and expanded website. This page has been created to assist everyone in learning more about our school.  We will be including information about our programs, staff, character education values and special accomplishments which we feel are the essence of TES.  So please take a few minutes each week to see what's new on our website.
